Sande G. Chernett, ASID



Ms. Chernett is an award-winning, nationally-published, interior designer. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969 from Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans and an Associate Degree in Interior Design from the New York School of Interior Design. She worked for Sotheby’s, New York, developing an expertise in 17th, 18th and 19th century furniture while cataloguing, inspecting and readying for sale over 300 pieces a week. Her responsibilities also included appraisal and evaluation of antique furniture and accessories. She returned to Cleveland to accept a position with Cleveland’s premier design firm, Irvin & Company, located at Shaker Square, becoming their antiques buyer and staff interior designer. Several

years later, she joined Barbara Dorn & Associates in San Francisco, working national accounts, including the Fairmount Hotel chain. While in California, she founded Sande Jablow Interior Design. Since then, Ms. Chernett has obtained licensing in Florida and completed numerous national interior design projects in Baltimore, Washington D.C., Florida and California.

Ms. Chernett has been featured in national decorating issues of Better Homes and Gardens, the Garden Style book, The Sunday Plain Dealer Magazine, The Plain Dealer “Inside and Out” section, Northern Ohio Live, The Sun Press and Cleveland Magazine.

She has also participated in three Designer Show houses on behalf of ASID and the American Cancer Society, including one as the public relations chair.

Ms. Chernett is also an expert witness who consults on legal cases concerning all matters relating to interior design. She has worked on cases ranging from copyrighted rug designs, to broken chairs, to lighting and flooring issues.
